Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair various vehicle systems including brakes, steering, electrical, cooling, transmissions, and drive trains.
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, D.O.T inspections, and fluid top-ups.
- Utilize diagnostic software to troubleshoot engine and system malfunctions.
- Handle repairs and replacements of components like radiators, alternators, turbochargers, sensors, starters, DPF systems, and HVAC systems.
- Undertake bodywork, including painting and interior maintenance such as seat and cabinet replacements.
- Manage fifth wheel repairs, rebuilds, and transmission work, including clutches, drive shafts, and axle shafts.
- Maintain clear communication with management regarding repair statuses, safety issues, and parts inventory.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained according to factory specifications and comply with all federal and state DOT regulations.
- Conduct test drives to verify the effectiveness of repairs and respond to road calls for on-site repairs as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience in diesel mechanic roles; 5+ years preferred for advanced positions.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computers.
- Specific certifications (Cummins etc) are a bonus.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to work in various physical conditions.
- Valid driver’s license is mandatory; possession of a CDL license is advantageous.
- State/ASE certification is highly valued.
- Must own personal tools suited for diesel mechanic work.
Shift Schedule
- Full time employment
- Expected hours: 38-42
- Days/hours the employee is expected to work: Mon-Fri; 8am - 5pm
- Overtime Upon Request
